Nolan and Hardwicke's upcoming movies

Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Departed".Emile Hirsch in "Alpha Dog".
    Ellen Page with Emile Hirsch.
Alison Pill with Emile Hirsch in "Milk".

"Jack and Diane has been "in the works" for a long, long time. Back in 2007, SlashFilm and I both wrote big articles about it because it needed extra financing to get off the ground and into production.
At that time, it was set to star former Juno actresses Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby. Unfortunately it never went into production, and we've been waiting for an update on it ever since. However, Brendon Connelly of SlashFilm recently discovered that the official website now lists Milk and Scott Pilgrim star Alison Pill in the cast in place of Ellen Page.

Ellen Page is currently working with Christopher Nolan on Inception and is probably busy until the end of the year - so maybe they needed to find a replacement to shoot it right away?
Olivia Thirlby and Michael Angarano in "Snow Angels" (2007).

As far as I know, Olivia Thirlby isn't shooting anything at the moment either. I'll see if I can find anything out, but in the meantime, I'm curious to know how many readers are even interested in hearing more about this indie project anyway?

"After the ridiculous success of Twilight it seemed like director Catherine Hardwicke would finally have some freedom as a director.
The former production designer had two quite good critical hits on her hands with Thirteen and Lords Of Dogtown, but critical hits don’t pay the bills or help guarantee your next project in Hollywood, so she decided to change. The formerly edgy realist went the other way, embracing PG ratings and fantasy. This lead to two big ass commercial hits in The Nativity Story and Twilight. I was hoping she’d return to her earlier realistic and gritty directing style from Thirteen, but I guess those days are over. No, instead Hardwicke is planning to make a film adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood…Ok…interesting, not what I expected, but I’ll go with it. The movie is called The Girl In The Red Riding Hood and the project is being kept pretty secretive at the moment".

Reese Witherspoon as Vanessa Lutz in "Freeway", a twisted take on "Little Red Riding Hood".
"Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly planning to produce a thriller about Little Red Riding Hood — one that probably has a not-so-sweet ending. The "reimagining" of the old story is said to have a "Gothic twist," and may be based on "oral versions of the tale, which date back to the Middle Ages, [and] are far darker and sometimes involve a werewolf rather than a wolf; the first published version, by Charles Perrault, concludes with Red Riding Hood eaten by the wolf, with no happy ending."
